Description

Thereis increased interest in endovascular hemorrhagecontrol using aortic balloon occlusion to improve outcomes in preventable battlefield death from non-compressibletorso hemorrhage(NCTH). Our technology, the SABOT, is the nextgeneration in such catheters, which adds the ability of both selectivevascular bed perfusion, bypassinginjured beds, and partial perfusion. In phaseI thefeasibility and proof ofconcept for bypassing a vascular bed during aortic balloon occlusion wasexplored. In phaseII, thefull development of thefinal prototype will be examined, providing us with selective bypass ofmultiplevascular beds, and selective, adjustable, partial reperfusion distal to bypassed vascular bed.We will perform a comparison of the SABOT with the REBOA catheter on a swinemodel using both a renal and liver lacerations to investigate diagnostic and therapeutic uses of the SABOT. Then a comparison of Selective Aortic Arch Perfusion usingthe SABOT vs the SAAP catheter and ECMO will be performed. Endpoints include: hemodynamic performance, perfusion measures, post occlusion flow and organ failure.
