Description
This proposal aim to develop a liposomalpolysaccharide based Salmonella Shigella vaccineThe VesiVaxsystem will be formulated with promising mucosal immune response stimulating adjuvants and conjugated to Salmonella and Shigella polyssacahride antigensThe liposomes will be first evaluated in CDmice to determine if a scaffold protein is necessary for a strong immune responseThe optimized VesiVaxsystem will then be used to screen the promising mucosal stimulatingadjuvants in miceThe mice will be evaluated for lgG and lgA antibody levels in serumfecal matter and bronchoalveolar lavagesThe serum antibodies will also be assessed for binding to intact Salmonella and Shigella cells by flow cytometrySuccessful completion of this Phase I project will lead to candidate Salmonella Shigella formulation sfor scale upmanufacturing development in Phase II
