Description

The automated identification and processing of goods and documents using machine-readable barcode identifiers is one of the key enabling technologies underlying most modern logistics system. However, the Navys efforts to utilize barcode technology with the Fleet Food Service Management (FSM) system has been often challenged by unique requirements for food service aboard operational vessels, the complexities of procurement, and the need for technologies and processes to comply with policies and regulations such as information assurance instructions and the 2010 Navy Financial Integrity and Audit Readiness mandate. Leveraging its experience in FIAR compliance and information assurance as the prime contractor for the Navys Fleet Audit Compliance Enhancement Tool (FACET), small business Premier Solutions Hi LLC proposes to develop a portable system for barcode identification, automated ordering and inventory, and FIAR compliant document retention that can interface with the Navy FSM 3.0 and other systems to streamline the operation of Navy galleys, stockrooms and messes both afloat and ashore.
