Description
QuNav proposes to validate and prototype a TRansform-domain INS Mechanization and Algorithmic Correction (TRIMAC). TRIMAC utilizes joint time/frequency domain processing of inertial sensor data in order to mitigate INS drift in the absence of external navaids (such as GPS). Frequency-domain implementation is particularly designed to improve the inertial performance in high-vibration missile environments. Particularly, dominant vibration modes are identified and utilized for the separation of angular errors (misorientation and gyro drifts) and translational motion errors (accelerometer biases) thus enabling a full-state observability. Frequency-domain solution of inertial differential equations mitigates conning and sculling errors that are associated with traditional time-domain algorithms.For risk reduction and to maximize the Governments return on investment, TRIMAC will leverage embedded prototyping capabilities developed by Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS). Transform-domain system mechanization of TRIMAC will be directly supported by existing NGMS signal processing tools (via the use of reconfigurable correlation engines and embedded software modules) and without the need of additional hardware resources. As a result, incorporation of TRIMAC into perspective NGMS navigation products will be performed as a software-based add-on thus minimizing the size, weight and power (SWaP) of the overall system.Approved for Public Release | 18-MDA-9522 (23 Feb 18)
