Description
Sonalysts, Inc. proposes to research and develop a Common User Defined Operational Picture (UDOP) for the Enterprise Ground System (EGS) for satellite Command and Control (C2). We will research and analyze the human factors affecting operator function and performance across multiple satellite systems, and the common and unique aspects of space systems currently in use. We will develop logical constructs for the visualization of health and status information; anomalous condition alerts; resource scheduling; and a process for command identification, selection, and distribution within the EGS construct. We will develop configuration rule-sets to control the UDOP visual layout, and operator roles to enable multi-satellite monitoring from a single console, while preventing dual commanding of the same satellite from multiple consoles. The limited scope of the Phase I effort will be constrained to the development of representative use cases to support user screen navigation methodologies, configuration controls, and permissions. Use cases will be chosen based on initial data collection and analysis to best represent normal and anomalous operations. The final Phase I product will consist of a proof-of-concept demonstration of the user interface, a draft design interface specification to guide further UDOP development, and preliminary measurement and analysis metrics.
