Description
Sonalysts will develop the Radiation Adaptive Monitoring System for Exposure Safety (RAMSES). RAMSES will be a simple application able to run on a variety of handheld devices with a data connection to a range of possible commercial radiation detectors. It will provide stay time and health hazard decision-making support for emergency responders exposed to unknown or varying radiation fields. RAMSES will be implemented as an application that will operate regardless of the state of network connectivity. It will be able to share data in real time via peer-to-peer and network connections. Stay time and percent allowed dose calculations will be performed using stored reference limits and user entries at an update rate that flexibly adjusts with the dose rate. RAMSES will also alert operators of significant transients for operational awareness. Benefits include facilitating awareness of actionable information for operator safety without unduly burdening emergency responders carrying out critical operations. Such capabilities will have significant market appeal, particularly with local, state and federal first responders as well as emergency responders at nuclear power plants and other nuclear facilities.
