Description

Indiana Microelectronics is proposing to conduct a feasibility study to two types of affordable, high speed, tunable notch filters in the X-Band and above. The first technology is based upon substrate integrated resonators tuned with solid state varactors. This type of filter technology is anticipated to produce a moderate quality factor while maintaining sub-microsecond tuning speeds. The second filter technology leverages High-Q MEMS RF tuner based filters. This filter technology will produce very High-Q performance at the sacrifice of tuning speeds. The results of the feasibility study will provide the Navy with well-defined tradeoffs for tunable microwave filters in the X-Band and above. A cost analysis of both filter technologies will also provide the Navy a means of determining affordability for use in next generation microwave systems. Furthermore, Indiana Microelectronics will work with Lockheed Martin, our transition partner, to define filter interface specifications and performance specifications to enable in-system testing of the Phase II filter prototypes.
