Description
To fully utilize the benefits of precise and stable external oscillators under degraded GPS environments, QuNav is pleased to set forth a technological approach of Clock-enabled High-Precision Aiding of Receiver Mechanization (CHARM). In order to facilitate clock and receiver integration at a deep coupling level, CHARM uses a stable external oscillator to drive the receivers front-end. GPS measurements are then applied for clock calibration, while clock aiding is exploited to improve robustness of GPS signal and measurement processing. GPS integrity monitoring is implemented to mitigate the influence of measurement outliers on position and timing solution. Two key components of the proposed technical approach include: (i) exploitation of sub-centimeter precise GPS carrier phase measurements for clock calibration and integrity monitoring, and (ii) clock aiding for long coherent integration of GPS signals. The mechanization of CHARM will be developed and prototyped using software-defined radio capabilities that have been implemented jointly with Northrop Grumman Corporation. Phase I effort will fully develop the CHARM system mechanization and will demonstrate its technological feasibility using simulated and experimental data.
