Description

Current Naval Air Systems imagery exploitation systems are fed new images from high speed data streams but have limited organic system file storage capability. With no built in logic to manage the storage volume, a first-in-first-out default overwrite situation often results, which hampers mission planning or results in planners having to expend time manually searching external libraries for needed imagery. Sonalysts proposed Mission-Focused Imagery Selection Tool (M-FIST) will provide a software technology solution to allow planners to use a user-friendly geographical interface to identify mission requirements based on locations, image type, image age, and multiple photogrammetric properties. These requirements are then compared with metadata extracted from both previously stored and incoming imagery feeds to determine in real-time the most relevant imagery to accept and/or delete from the exploitation systems storage volume. M-FIST will provide system operators with a dynamic intuitive interface that includes a representation of the user-defined requirements, existing imagery, and a depiction of how well existing imagery meets mission needs.
