"Knowledge Based Systems, Inc. (KBSI) proposes to research and demonstrate an adaptive, open-architecture, plug-and-play framework for missile defense battle planning and training.The resulting innovative solution, called the Framework for Enabling Adaptive planning and Training (FEAT) will enable the following capabilities: (i) missile-defense battle planning at multiple levels of fidelity; (ii) modular, open, architecture for plug-and-play insertion and configuration of new components for varying warfighter needs; (iii) interoperability with current and future missile and air defense systems; and (iv) any time anywhere adaptive battle planning training at multiple levels of fidelity.The Phase I project will establish missile defense battle planning and training requirements, design the open planner framework solution, and demonstrate the technical and pragmatic viability of the research.Phase II will harden the innovation and build a focused application of the solution in a realistic missile defense environment. The central innovations include (i) services-based, standards-compliant, open architecting approach that allows for plug and play updates to planning and training modules to address emerging and continuously changing BMDS and IAMD planning and training requirements; and (ii) an ontology-based semantic interoperability methods that enable information exchanges at the semantic level between multiple battle planners and trainers."
