Description
To address the Navys need for of improved volume holographic optical element (HOE) manufacturing for thin and light lens components, Luminit, LLC proposes to develop a new Volume-HOE MANufacturing (VMAN) system with analog and digital wave front control for improved off-axis aberration performance. This design is based on Luminits decades of experience with HOE development and prototyping. The innovative use of analog pre aberration techniques and digital diffractive optical elements for wave front conditioning allow to obtain good intra-element and element-to-element uniformity and repeatability, and improved off-axis aberration optical performance. As a result, VMAN offers manufacturing grade production of volume HOEs for imaging and non-imaging applications. In Phase I, Luminit will demonstrate the feasibility of VMAN by building a manual manufacturing prototype at TRL 5. In Phase II, Luminit, LLC plans to further develop the prototype of Phase I to TRL 7 by introducing automation.
