Description
During Phase I SRICO designed and fabricated a Difference Frequency Generation (DFG) and a Sum Frequency Generation (SFG) module operating at 795 nm, 1989 nm and 1324 nm. Phase I experimentally demonstrated the feasibility of SRICOs approach using the sum frequency generation process. A novel, robust packaging scheme was demonstrated to efficiently combine disparate wavelengths to launch into a periodically poled lithium niobate (PPLN) waveguide. Highly efficient DFG input coupling technology, in combination with the in-house capability to produce and test PPLN waveguide devices, makes SRICO uniquely suited to implement a wide range of frequency converters for use in QFC applications. In Phase II, SRICO will build on the solid foundation established in Phase I to produce fully packaged compact plug-and-play quantum frequency conversion modules based on a periodically poled lithium niobate (PPLN) waveguide having high difference and sum conversion efficiency with at least 10 dB signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). SRICO will collaborate with Prof. Dirk Englund at MIT to test and characterize the SNR of the single-photon frequency converters.
