Description
Techshot is pleased to provide this phase II proposal to continue our exciting scaffold development work in creating a Tissue Engineered Vascular Graft (TEVG).This off the shelf conduit will be capable of being combined with the patients own cells either at the time of surgery or by healing and remodeling in situ to provide a long term solution to revascularization due to traumatic injury. We intend to manufacture an FDA compliant electrospinning system to produce peripheral vascular grafts based on our successful prototype system developed during Phase I.The graft will be comprised of natural and synthetic polymers capable of in situ remodeling to leave a natural vessel upon complete healing. When available, the lumen of the conduit will be pre-lined with stromal cells harvested from the patients adipose tissue. These cells will migrate into the conduit to form a smooth muscle medial layer as well as an endothelium. We believe that the regenerative cell populations found in adipose represents a clinically feasible source of cells for vascular-dependent tissue repair.Success will be achieved through careful design and evaluation of electrospun scaffolds, cell isolation and delivery systems, as well as meeting regulatory hurdles to quickly transition into clinical trials.
