Description
The Navy needs security-hardened Personal Electronic Devices for use in nuclear reactor rooms and other sensitive environments. Sonalysts and Cummings Engineering will develop a library of hardened and tested modules, extending and enhancing Cummings' Secure Agile Interoperable Framework for the Enterprise, SAIFE, to fortify the security weaknesses of the Android Operating System (OS) and its related mobile applications. The proposed software solution will run on standard commercial-grade hardware, delivering secure messaging, encryption (data-at-rest and data-in-motion), process monitoring, application management, remote device management, application installation restrictions, and blocking of unauthorized access. The solution will mitigate or eliminate the risk of a compromised device. Sonalysts and Cummings will demonstrate with a proof-of-concept how the hardened library will be securely deployed on tablet devices to improve watchstander (maintenance, casualty control, and supervisory) operations as well as off-watch supervisory functions on Navy platforms.
