Description
An effective missile defense requires an understanding of the combined radar signature of a hardbody and plume and a capability for predicting that signature. The proposed program will develop a state-of-the-art, computational tool that provides an interface between hardbody and plume RCS software to obtain the combined signature of a missile and its exhaust plume. The software is designed around the CrossFlux method, which allows the best available missile hardbody RCS software and the best plume RCS software to be coupled together in a mathematically rigorous way. This program will provide MDA with a near-term capability for examining the importance of this phenomenon to the Aegis BMD program as well as other programs being developed for early intercept missions.
