Description
NAVSYS shall deliver an alternative navigation (ALTNAV) external aiding solution that utilizes signals of opportunity (SoOP) from a combination of commercial and military space systems.. Under the Phase I effort, we shall design a multi-band antenna and Software Defined Radio (SDR) solution, suitable for use on multiple platforms including missiles or hypersonic interceptors, that can provide SoOP observations as an external navigation update to onboard Inertial Measurement Units. We shall demonstrate the expected ALTNAV performance through simulation and develop a plan to build a prototype solution in Phase II to demonstrate an external navigation correction relevant to the developing advanced missile defense architecture. Under Phase II, we shall build a prototype for a performance demonstration of the navigation solution against government performance goals. Approved for Public Release | 21-MDA-11013 (19 Nov 21)
