Description
During Phase I Hy-Tek Mfg. Co. Inc. (HMC) designed, fabricated and tested an innovative FOB shelter platform capable of satisfying the performance and materiel requirements delineated by U.S. Army. HMC coined this FOB soft shelter platform design concept the Modular Expeditionary Platform System (MEPS). MEPS is comprised of engineered components i.e. tiles, corrosion coated mounting plates and jack stands, and threaded adjustment rods that have been mass produced with identical dimensions and tolerances. This characteristic, in addition to HMCs Phase I load and stability testing has validated the efficacy of the MEPS concept. Additionally, the Phase I MEPS prototype has satisfied the following Army performance and material requirements:Facilitates multiple re-deployments at Army FOBsLogistically trouble-free platform leveling within +/-0.25 on terrain varying 6 inches over 10 linear feetMEPS cost will be < = $7.50 per square footPrefabricated modular designExhibits excellent stability on various ground condition environments i.e. dirt, gravel and steep inclineAssembly by interlocking panelsMEPS tiles are tested and rated to support a point load of > 120 lbs./in2MEPS testing validates support of a uniform load of > 65 lbs./ft2Insulating value of R6
