Description

Problem: Current EO simulation systems lack the fidelity to support Government evaluation of survivability and protection systems. Additionally, current systems are designed to specific requirements and do not accommodate comprehensive scenarios. DHPC has identified following areas needing improvement to solve this problem: • Fidelity of the optical signature in both spectral and time domains • Near field effects reduction • Target or threat movement • Modular design Objective: To produce a novel HIFEOS prototype with the following key features: • Higher fidelity generations of optical signature sources • Collimated space simulation • Multiple threats/clutter representations • Non-mechanical target movement Description of effort: Over a two year program, DHPC will design, fabricate and test our prototype HIFEOS which will meet the objectives Results: The results of this effort will produce a projection capability which provides higher fidelity simulation in a collimated space, with multiple threat representations and non-mechanical target movement. Application: The HIFEOS will serve as an effective simulation tool for HITL applications in Government laboratories, helping to reduce the risk and cost associated with program field testing as well as simulators used in military training exercises. This technology will also be applicable to support test and evaluation of commercial products.
