Description
The objective of this SBIR development is to produce an advanced and safe laser-based wireless power transmission (LBWPT) system capable of beaming laser power over several kilometers to a moving platform from ground, fixed or mobile platforms, or from a moving platform to ground, in accordance with SPIR Topic Number A15-035. The developed system should be highly reliable and affordable, with additional emphasis on efficiency and low size weight and power (SWaP). During the SBIR Phase II development, a system prototype will be built to demonstrate overall system performance, meeting and exceeding the performance requirements as identified in SPIR solicitation, Topic Number A15-035. The proof of concept system developed as part of the SBIR Phase II effort will be capable of delivering 150W of power to a load, and will be scalable to powers in excess of 1000W. The energy density on the receiving transducer will be optimized for size, efficiency, and power. At the conclusion of the SBIR Phase II development, the system will be built and shipped to the government facilities for further testing by government personnel.
