Description

Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) are an increasingly integral part of strategic plans across the military services. However, UAS mishaps occur at an increasingly high rate. Often, these incidents are the result of operator attentional issues. QIC, in partnership with GameSim and Dr. James Szalma, propose SkySpotter, adaptive videogame-based training to address this issue. The SkySpotter concept involves a pre-assessment of trainee state, followed by scenario-based training in a game environment representative of UAS operations. Transfer is assessed in a test scenario at the conclusion of a training scenario. A user profile stores and manages performance data and adaptive algorithms select subsequent scenarios based on these data. In this proposal we describe the concept for SkySpotter and outline plans for development and commercialization.
