STTR research-partner brief

Topic brief

STTR topics require a research-institution partner. Treat DPA26TZ05-DV003 as a teaming problem first, technical proposal second — DARPA funds the collaboration, not a solo small-business essay.

STTR focus: Confirm research-institution partner and statutory work-share before deep writing. Use Find partners / Post teaming need on this page.

Who this is for

  • Small businesses with a university or FFRDC partner already identified
  • Labs seeking an industry commercialization partner
  • Firms that can split work share per STTR statutory rules

Capture playbook

  1. Confirm STTR work-share and research-partner eligibility early
  2. Lock the partner letter of commitment before writing deep technical pages
  3. Align the joint SOW to agency transition goals, not pure research
  4. Use the teaming marketplace if you still need a research partner
  5. Score fit with a readiness check before burning partner cycles

pWin cues

  • Named PI at a credible research institution with relevant publications
  • Clear commercialization path owned by the small business
  • Prior joint work or a realistic transition plan

Watch-outs

  • Partner delays kill STTR schedules more often than technical risk
  • Work-share miscalculations can make a proposal non-compliant
  • Pure research with no firm transition story underperforms at most agencies

Description

Develop and demonstrate a robust framework and tool suite building on automated algorithm discovery tools that will enable the seamless integration of discovered algorithms with the scientific and engineering workflow. This framework will provide domain experts with on-demand tools to discover new, bespoke algorithms, bridging the gap between algorithmic discovery and practical application and empowering engineers and scientists to leverage AI-driven algorithm design as a standard part of their process.
