Description
MagWerks Vision Inc. will perform a feasibility study for their vehicular lighting system as it applies to the B-52H bomber aircraft. Through this phase I effort, MWV aims help the Air Force achieve its goal of “resiliency and redundancy” by designing, testing, and validating its lighting solution for application to Air Force aircrafts, specifically the B-52H (af.mil). The expectation is that the upgraded lamps will allow for increased payload, maximized energy efficiency, reduced maintenance and lifecycle costs, all while being a cost-effective upgrade. . MagWerks Vision Inc. (MWV) proposes state-of-the-art vehicular lighting and signaling systems for an energy-saving and cost-saving solution for the DLA call for discrete parts. The solution is “drop-in” and projects to bring significant operational improvements to current lighting systems on aircrafts. MWV brings forth two, proprietary technology solutions, which together represent a major leap-forward in LED illumination and signalization technology: Magnesium Thixomolding and Optical Silicone. Specific research on the viability of MWV solution will be tested over the 12-month phase I effort. As noted in the related work section below, the MWV lighting systems are at TRL 5 until they get specific design instructions to develop and build out initial prototypes. Significant environmental and economic impact is expected to be discovered during this process.
