Description
In order to meet the demands of next generation propulsion systems, MR&D is proposing to construct the pintle from 3D woven carbon and/or silicon carbide preforms which will be fully densified using a quick, and low-cost melt infiltration process to form a Silicon Carbide (SiC) matrix. If successful, this highly flexible process for producing pintles can be matured and extended to produce even higher temperature materials to meet the ever-increasing demands of future missile systems.
