Potomac Research LLC — Department of Defense SBIR Phase II: HR001120S0019-08

Potomac Research LLC — SBIR Phase II award from Department of Defense.

Phase II SBIR prototype / development signal

  • Phase II is where Department of Defense funds deeper R&D after feasibility. Incumbents with Phase II history are serious competitors on adjacent topics.
  • Use this award as past-performance context and to map customer organizations for STRATFI/TACFI-style transition planning.
  • Obligated amount $1,499,882 is consistent with substantial Phase II-scale effort; compare to related awards from the same agency.
  • Topic code HR001120S0019-08 links this award to a solicitation family — search the same topic stem for incumbents and recompete timing.

Description

In order to address the DoD’s most challenging prediction and decision making problems, we present Library Augmented Reservoir Computing—LARC.   LARC is a metalearning framework that vastly reduces data requirements for predicting a nonstationary time series of interest by learning the low dimensional manifold that contains Reservoir Computers (RC) trained on a library of related processes.  Because the manifold is low dimensional, it can be efficiently searched for an RC that produces a time series that most closely matches a short observed signal.  The identified RC can then be used as the basis of future predictions.  During Phase I, we showed that LARC achieves a two orders of magnitude reduction in reconstruction error compared to state-of-the-art on a standard time series metalearning benchmark.
