Description
HQ ACC 5/8/9 has a national Defense-related mission need in the areas of Manned-Unmanned Training, Pilot-Assisted Autonomy, and Real Time BFM Debriefing. Specifically, HQ ACC 5/8/9 requires technology developed and adapted to use with the F-22 to bring Augmented Reality (AR) to the dynamic, airborne domain, providing the most realistic environment to interact with digital training aids. Red Six Aerospace believes technology development under this effort will contribute to future mission need fulfillment. The mission impact of this project on the DAF and DoD will be to provide ACC the ability to better produce highly competent pilots ensuring combatant commanders have the resources necessary to conduct operations. Additionally, once airborne AR technology is available within the F-22 system, pilots will be able to train against synthetic versions of adversary aircraft and weapons (e.g. surface to air threats) that are either unavailable or impractical to use for live airborne training, thereby increasing the readiness of the force by dramatically improving the realism of the training. Red Six Aerospace proposes to integrate the Advanced Tactical Augmented Reality System (ATARS) into the F-22 simulated environment. We will investigate and quantify technical compatibilities of F-22 OSA and leading-edge technology with much growth potential, Red Six Aerospace will document shortfalls in F-22 OSA integration with leading-edge technology. We will quantify a proposed standard for OSA integration with leading edge compute devices that can rapidly provide increased capabilities to USAF aircraft equipped with OSA systems. Red Six Aerospace will also provide capability for debrief of ATARS usage in F-22 simulated environment.
