Description
Spectral Sciences, Inc. (SSI), proposes extensive upgrades, benchmarking, and post-intercept assessment (PIA) prototype integration of the Comprehensive Optical Post-Processing Tool (COPPT). SSI will lead a Team of experts including Corvid Technologies, SciTec, Sandia National Laboratory, and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. COPPT is an EO/IR scene generation code that post-processes outputs from first-principles hydrocodes and hydrostructural models (FPCs). In the proposed Phase II effort, COPPT will be upgraded for compatibility with the latest versions of CTH and ALE3D hydrocodes, and interfaces will be developed for the hydrostructural codes, Zapotec and Paradyn. Long duration post-intercept simulations will then be possible that combine micro-debris diffuse and high contrast discrete debris signatures computed from source terms generated by a variety of FPCs. The COPPT spectral and sensor models will also be upgraded for more comprehensive EO/IR scene generation and sensor design testing. The upgraded COPPT will be tested and benchmarked against thermal flash radiometric data using the same hypervelocity impact cases modeled by FPC models from Corvid (Velodyne) and the Department of Energy. The results of the benchmarking will be incorporated in a Basis-of-Confidence document. The upgraded COPPT will be integrated in PIA architecture prototypes.
