Description

Verus Research is pleased to respond to the Navy SBIR solicitation N221-015 entitled “Electromagnetic interactions between cables, antennas, and their environments”. In this solicitation, the Navy is seeking a multi-fidelity simulation tool for analyzing electromagnetic (EM) interactions between cables, antennas, and their environment on Navy aircraft to ensure electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and resilience to electromagnetic interference (EMI) and external EM radiation including electromagnetic pulse (EMP), high-intensity radiated fields (HIRF), and lightning. To meet these requirements, Verus Research will develop a set of software tools that will analyze these interactions, from a simple multi-conductor transmission line (MTL) to complex cable networks and interactions with antennas in complex aircraft environments. By integrating various cable interference analysis tools and enabling data sharing, we will facilitate efficient internal arrangement and layout of cable bundles in aircraft, avoiding issues with co-site interference. We will ensure that our solution is the best match to the Navy need. At the end of Phase I, Verus Research will deliver a prototype of the integrated toolset capable of analyzing these cable-field and cable-antenna-environment interactions. An initial design of a graphic user interface (GUI) will be supplied to make the toolset as simple and intuitive as possible to operate.
