Description

Mentis Sciences Inc. (Mentis) intends to develop sources of supply for priority components on the MILSATCOM antenna systems including but not limited to the Minuteman Program/Antenna Pedestal Assembly (MMP/APA). In addition to the capability to manufacture new priority components, the requalification of parts with high failure concern is critical to the success of the MMP/APA system.  Refurbishment of military equipment is a standard practice within the services and is termed “reset”. Equipment reset is defined as a series of repair, recapitalization, and replacement actions to restore the equipment to a desired level of combat readiness. To complement previous work, requalification of sub-components is necessary to provide a cost-effective solution to ensure serviceability of the system. Mentis is proposing a Phase II SBIR contract to develop sources of supply for replacement and/or refurbishment of priority components in the MMP/APA system. In conjunction with sub-tier suppliers for specific processes and components, Mentis will develop detailed performance specifications to govern the refurbished and replacement components that includes all necessary documentation as well as validation/requalification testing to certify the performance of these components meet or exceed the original equipment. The initial priority components consist of the MMP/APA main reflector and Control/Bit Circuit Card Assembly, with the understanding that additional components may need to be requalified or replaced as work progresses.  Mentis will work with engineers at Peterson AFB to evaluate additional high failure/high wear components of the MMP/APA and other similar antenna systems to identify opportunities to provide additional repair or sources of supply to aid in the sustainment of these systems.
