Description

There is an ever-growing need for increased reserve battery performance in high power and volume-constrained applications over a wider range of temperatures. This small business innovation research project is aiming to address the issues of the current reserve batteries: 1) development of micro-scale reserve battery on-the-chip, 2) short life after activation of the current reserve batteries used in munitions, 3) performance loss at extreme temperatures, 4) high cost. An innovative approach is proposed to develop a novel reserve microbattery based on all-3D-printing process, current battery technology and low temperature solid electrolytes to overcome these issues.
