AOSENSE, INC. — Department of Defense SBIR Phase I: A19-149

AOSENSE, INC. — SBIR Phase I award from Department of Defense.

Phase I SBIR feasibility signal

  • Phase I awards fund proof-of-concept work. For capture teams, they mark early interest from Department of Defense in a technical approach.
  • Watch for Phase II follow-ons from the same firm/topic family — that conversion path is where budgets and transition pressure rise.
  • Obligated amount $111,353. Cross-check similar awards in the same agency and technology tags for going-rate context.
  • Topic code A19-149 links this award to a solicitation family — search the same topic stem for incumbents and recompete timing.

Description

Ion-trap-based-quantum information processing is one of the fastest growing research areas in recent years. Ion traps offer properties such high isolation from the environment, long life-times, and individual addressability of atomic qubits. However, ground up development of a research grade ion trap suitable for quantum commuting applications is a limiting factor because the process is highly resource consuming. AOSense proposes to design and develop a vacuum packaged ion trapping system suitable for quantum computing applications. The effort will leverage our expertise on the development of advanced laser systems for state-of-the-art atomic physics applications, and the development of fieldable quantum devices that share numerous similarities to trapped-ion-based experiments.
