Description
To address the need for anti-submarine warfare (ASW) sonar-operator training that will enable sonar-team personnel to individually and collectively develop domain expertise, maintain proficiency, and overcome skill atrophy while at sea and between deployments ARiA will develop ESAIL-OG (ESAIL-Onboard Game), a multiplayer serious game compatible with the architecture of the ASW combat system and ashore information technology infrastructure. The Phase I effort will (1) develop the ESAIL-OG multiplayer serious game that teaches critical sonar-operator skills; (2) demonstrate that the ESAIL-OG concept can feasibly meet the requirements of topic N192-094 and sonar-operator ASW challenge through modeling and analysis of the specific game design; and (3) develop a Phase II plan for ESAIL-OG including an initial design specification and capabilities description to guide development of a prototype in Phase II for testing by ASW personnel.
