Description

Black River Systems Company and SRC Inc. are pleased to submit our INTERACT solution for the FY 2020.1 SBIR topic A20-016 “Integrated Radar and Electronic Surveillance (ES) system”. Our proposed Integrated Radar and Electronic Targeting (INTERACT) approach addresses the Army’s need for a combined Radar and ES system for unmanned aerial system (UAS) awareness by developing an integrated system leveraging a radar test bed from SRC and the proven AFRL Ninja ES system developed in part by Black River Systems. The INTERACT system will exploit the shared RF collection and transmission goals of radar and ES systems to create an integrated system, thereby reducing SWAP, cost, and the kill-chain timeline versus a system-of-systems integration. The INTERACT system will interface with the Army hard-kill weapon system, providing UAS target tracks from the radar subsystem and associated UAS target intent inferences from the ES subsystem. In Phase I, we will develop a design plan for the integrated system, determine timeline requirements for the RF front-end, develop a scheduler for meeting these requirements, and perform simulations to evaluate the INTERACT design. We will conclude Phase I with a mock integration of the systems in a lab environment in preparation for Phase II.
