Description

ABMS solutions have been proven, through testing, to be effective at reducing global acceleration of a vehicle in an underbody blast event. The TenCate ABDS, currently at TRL6, has been tested at full scale on vehicles in the Army’s inventory. Designed to be vehicle agnostic, this system uses an architecture and components that can be integrated onto vehicles of different types. The DES vehicle integration experts will consider not only the vehicle’s lightweight structure required to carry the extra weight of the ABMS system, but also the reaction forces of deploying the countermeasures. The following challenges will also be considered: 1. Integration of the ABMS must not adversely affect the MATV platform during its normal mission profile. 2. Integration of the ABMS must not impede the use of other mission systems integrated onto the MATV. 3. The ABMS must not present new unacceptable safety issues. 4. Integration of the system must not require significant modification to the MATV platform baseline. 5. Activation of the ABMS countermeasures must not create a negative structural response that compromises the integrity of the cab. 6. Mounting brackets, covers, and all other integration items must meet applicable requirements and MIL standards for the MATV.
