Description

The use of imagery is essential to the Navy’s maritime domain awareness. Ability to determine relevant changes in imagery content quickly can drastically improves the Navy’s ability to conduct mission planning and execution. Currently image validation is performed manually, a painstaking process that is tedious and error prone. DZYNE Technologies proposes to extend the Smart Caching of Imagery for Carry On System (SCICOS) with the Image Validation Service (IVS) that will leverage state-of-the-art Deep Learning algorithms to detect and localize changes in input imagery against a reference image. The proposed Phase II effort will leverage existing change detection algorithms funded by the DARPA Cloud Analytics for Satellite Imagery (CASI) program. The Phase II IVS system will automatically detect and notify image analyst of changes in image content such as buildings, roads, vegetation and water. The effort will develop a solution that supports (a) change detection to cultural and geographic features; (b) assessments of shadow-casters; (c) a robust notification and reporting system. IVS will be a modular component that can be configured to interoperate with SCICOS or existing Theatre Mission Planning Center.
