GIRD SYSTEMS INC — Department of Defense STTR Phase I: A19C-T001

GIRD SYSTEMS INC — STTR Phase I award from Department of Defense.

Phase I STTR feasibility signal

  • Phase I awards fund proof-of-concept work. For capture teams, they mark early interest from Department of Defense in a technical approach.
  • Watch for Phase II follow-ons from the same firm/topic family — that conversion path is where budgets and transition pressure rise.
  • Obligated amount $166,170. Cross-check similar awards in the same agency and technology tags for going-rate context.
  • Topic code A19C-T001 links this award to a solicitation family — search the same topic stem for incumbents and recompete timing.

Description

An innovative, integrated analog and digital mitigation solution which will enable HF radio receivers to fully operate while in the presence of interference. The solution is centered on a nonlinear AJ technology patented by GIRD Systems’ staff that is directly applicable to the interference/jamming problem of interest, with an initial-design prototype available for a Phase I demonstration with HF radios. Simulations and initial laboratory prototypes have demonstrated up to 49 dB of wideband interference suppression while protecting the ADC by limiting impinging RF power. Use of this approach obviates the need for exotic GaN LNAs and high linearity ADCs. The proposed concept is well-suited for deployment both as a near-term external appliqué solution to existing HF radios (Figure 1), as well as integrated into future HF radios.
