Description

Counterfeit electronic parts in the Department of Defense (DoD) supply chain undermine the operational readiness and performance of weapons systems, provide a competitive edge to adversaries, and put American warfighters at risk. Only through the elimination of such counterfeit components can we assure confidence in our defense systems and in defense force readiness and lethality. The DoD establishes policies for detecting, avoiding, and remediating counterfeit parts in the DoD supply chain, and allocates responsibility among various DoD offices and functions for administering or developing those counterfeit prevention policies. Of particular importance are efforts specifically targeted at dealing with the epidemic of counterfeit electronic parts in defense systems. The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) understands these challenges and is working to find solutions. DLA seeks and evaluates methods to eliminate counterfeit electronic components from the DoD supply chain. In response to the DLA’s quest for new counterfeit prevention technologies, HNu Photonics developed a cost effective and easy-to-use anti-tampering labeling system that provides the capability to detect counterfeit products across the majority of packaging types for materiel that the DLA purchases. HNu’s XTG label code technology was developed to provide these capabilities with an inexpensive and readily deployable label methods.
