Description

Leveraging the HyperLedger blockchain platform, the LEDGEr-based Network for Document Distribution (LEDGENDD) solution promotes effective document and data publication and sharing within the Defense Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E) community. In addition to high availability and confidentiality, LEDGENDD enables easy document authentication and integrity verification, traceable document delivery, and fine-grained access control beyond initial dissemination. It addresses unique challenge of integrating blockchains with Defense Technical Information Center ‘s (DTIC) semantic web technology foundation, while ensuring transaction privacy and deterring transaction-pattern based side channel attacks. With a consensus mechanism designed for mixed trust environments, the LEDGENDD architecture aligns with RDT&E community governance structure. Our Phase II work will deliver an end-to-end prototype that enhances DTIC’s semantic information architecture and integrates it with the blockchain platform. Not only does LEDGENDD address the immediate need of assured document distribution, it also lays the foundation for future mission capabilities with a scalable data distribution platform and a vibrant ecosystem.
