Powers Media’s Location Based Augmented Reality (LBAR) is a commercially proven platform that builds low density AR point clouds for venues where users can navigate via mobile devices. The 3 dimensional model built around the point cloud enables precise location-based AR content and tracks the user and their activity within the space. User location data is obtained from a combination of the mobile device’s camera, the device’s IMU, and occasional markers within the space. The AR content, packaged into proprietary html plugins, can include anything from simple images to dynamic interactive applications including IIOT, 3D models, video, Q&A, and more. LBAR is hardware independent, requiring no beacons, WIFI, GPS, or cell service. Precisely positioned AR content with guided navigation dramatically reduces the time to train new hires or complete a job. Workers needn’t pause to consult a paper manual or workstation. It reduces errors because the AR display provides explicit guidance overlaid on the work being done, delivered on demand. Workers need only follow the instructions directly in front of them to move through a sequence of steps to completion. If they encounter problems, they can launch training videos or connect by video with remote experts and get real-time assistance.
