Description
The objective of this SBIR Phase II is to test the hypothesis that virtual reality (VR) training content is better than 2-D, flatscreen based training in terms of content realism, trainee immersion, and the variety of outcomes, while also allowing more rapid content creation and distribution. Street Smarts VR is already serving multiple non-defense clients by providing VR-based content. This proposal has 3 components in adapting existing commercial solutions to USAF needs. Improvements against the status quo will be measured via surveys with students, using training data, and through interviews with training staff. First, Street Smarts VR will enhance scenario realism by improving the visual accuracy of digital assets, including characters (avatars), environments, and other pieces of a scenario to ensure an immersive, realistic, VR experience for trainees. Next, they will develop a deep content library that will expose trainees to a wide variety of training content and learning outcomes to improve learner engagement, increase training efficiency and mission readiness, while also reducing training time. Finally, Street Smarts VR will create Security Forces-specific training content by tailoring all training modules to support SF mission requirements, learning objectives, and training with end users at both tech school (AETC) and operational squadrons.
