Description
ABSTRACT: .3D printing has recently taking a lead role as a potential solution for future manufacturing. However, there are still many problems and limitations to the technology for cost effective high resolution, high throughput manufacturing. The beam alone is currently 2X larger than the program requirements for AF161-010 with a second barrier of throughput for larger, high resolution parts. Throughput is the gating factor for large part Direct Metal Laser Sinter (DMLS) which is compounded by smaller beam size for high resolution printing. Digibeam is presenting an innovative solution using a different beam and growth process that directly addresses both resolution and throughput limitations to meet and exceed USAF SBIR AF161-010 requirements. 3D Printing will be performed in a single tool using a process called Direct Metal Adsorption Printing (DMAP). DMAP uses a novel high speed pulsed ion beam to print 2D patterns from CAD and then non-thermally growing multi-layer materials from the printed patterns at room temperature in separate chambers. The repetitive 2D print and growth allows 3D additive manufacturing of high resolution precision structures.; BENEFIT: High resolution, precision castings manufactured by a new self assembled, low cost additive manufacturing technology.
