Description
In this project, the developers will create a prototype of a More Perfect Union, a role-playing game for high school civics and history. The technology-facilitated intervention will provide a library of simulations on a range of topics and historical moments inspired by the AP U.S. History Curriculum and the Common Core History Standards. In the game students will be cast in the roles of leading political and intellectual figures and tasked to learn facts from primary sources to navigate the challenges facing the nation. At the end of Phase I, in a pilot study in two high school classrooms, the researchers will examine whether the prototype functions as planned, whether teachers believe that the full product concept could be implemented, and whether the prototype shows potential for improving student outcomes related to civics literacy and historical knowledge.
