Description
As the utilization of warfighters in conflict areas continues to evolve, the need for widespread, accessible, and rapid response medical treatments is paramount. Significant medical advances have been made in the cell therapy community. Unfortunately, these treatment options require laboratories to produce and maintain the necessary, highly-sensitive cell cultures, dramatically limiting access to soldiers in remote conflict areas around the world. HNu Photonics proposes to leverage existing, patented commercial products in the automated biology research sector to develop Phoenix, a living cell culture transport device that will facilitate transportation of living cell therapies from the research laboratory to battlefield medical clinics. Phoenix is a compact, sterile, live-cell transportation device that provides autonomous environmental control and data logging to maintain living cell cultures for days to weeks during transportation. Regenerative Medicine and related cell therapeutics are posed to be the next generation of advanced medical treatments for a variety of diseases and injuries. Phoenix will be required to transport cell therapies to successfully employ these advanced procedures in remote conflict areas to save the lives of American soldiers. Furthermore, Phoenix has significant commercialization prospects within the pharmaceutical industry by providing unfettered global access of sensitive cell therapies to remote areas.
