Description
ABSTRACT: An organizational culture that promotes problem solving is necessary for success in any organization. Nondestructive Inspection (NDI) is the inspection of a structure or component in any manner that will not impair its future usefulness. The purpose of the inspection may be to detect flaws, measure geometric characteristics, determine material structure or composition, or it may characterize physical, electrical, or thermal properties without causing any changes in the part. There are five standard NDI disciplines which include: 1) Liquid Penetrant 2) Magnetic Particle 3) Eddy Current 4) Ultrasonic and 5) Radiography. There are also many new and emerging technologies and capture data from thermography, shearography and digital photographs.; BENEFIT: This collaborative environment will allow organizations to focus on their digital thread and forces attention to problems where they live, in conversation with the people who live with them and whose current actions are contributing to the problems. For the Air Force to leverage the Art of the Possible all these problems must become opportunities for improvement of the process and harness the power of enterprise collaboration to gain the necessary outcomes. This SBIR provides the foundation for this environment and can be leveraged to develop solutions that focus on improvement.
