Description
The USAF is developing engines where performance is currently limited by state-of-the-art high temperature material capabilities. JBE has identified several high temperature fibers that they have experience braiding with and can be made into rope and pillow seals of multiple sizes, shapes, and configurations to withstand the desired operating conditions. JBE will build on its experience braiding seals from high temperature fibers by fabricating seal shapes and sizes that are applicable to the advanced USAF engines, and validate performance in relevant test environments. An improved high temperature seal, with demonstrated capability in relevant environments, will be immediately beneficial to the expanding supsersonic and hypersonic markets by providing increased capability, reliability, and reduced cost.
