Description
Mechanical Solutions, Inc. (MSI) is proposing to develop a man portable diagnostic tool (MPDT) for integrity assessments of the Advanced Arresting Gear (AAG) water twister. The system will allow for periodic monitoring of the full set of six water twisters on an aircraft carrier. The goal of the system is to provide advanced warnings to Sailors regarding structural and/or hydraulic failures of the water twisters to prevent catastrophic failures by performing properly-timed maintenance. MSI has previous experience with the water twister having performed testing at the Navys request in 2012 at the Lakehurst Jet Car Track Site (JCTS), and will utilize the understanding gained to provide a physics-based monitoring and diagnostic solution.
