Description
Today, commercial and military wireless communications systems require high functionalities for microwave components and devices.Filters are critical components for radar, electronic warfare, and modern microwave communication systems.Traditional approaches using banks of fixed filters and waveguide cavity or a dielectric resonator loaded cavity filters are bulky and heavy and dont fully meet the high functionality requirements of modern communication systems.Tunable thin film filters promise greater functionality, better channel selectivity, <100nsec tuning, and reduced size, weight, and power consumption (SWAP).To fulfil these requirements, high performance electrically tunable dielectric thin films with proper electrode interfaces are urgently needed.In this Phase I effort, nGimat will develop high quality factor, tunable, fast tuning filters using its state-of-the-art tunable thin film technology and its scalable low cost manufacturing deposition nCCVD process.
