Description
The current MDA Command, Control, Battle Management and Communications (C2BMC) Planner, while mature and reliable, has limitations. Those limitations include the absence of a modular structure to allow changes and additions to planner algorithms inexpensively, inability to share data easily with other applications, operation on a stand-alone laptop, a complex user interface, and inability to support embedded training. This work seeks to overcome those limitations by starting with a clean sheet of paper design that re-thinks how planner software across the Department of Defense is created.Harmonia proposes a very powerful solution called GSOAP that can help Government or contractors build planner systems for a wide variety of domains and customers.GSOAP will dynamically meld together existing proven software components (e.g., to predict the trajectory of a missile, or to display political or terrain maps) along with training control algorithms (e.g., for so-called white cell control by an instructor) to instantiate a complete Planner. GSOAP will facilitate reuse of mature algorithms from the current C2BMC Planner for MDA, or it can potentially use algorithms developed for other services. Harmonias work builds on its prior Phase II SBIR work on planners for MDA.
