Description
ABSTRACT: Various embodiments of deployable booms have been used for decades in space applications but few, if any, have been realizable for the smaller form factors inherent to SmallSat, MicroSat, and NanoSat platforms. With the foregoing in mind, MMA Design proposes to develop the Base Actuated Deployable Astro (BADA) Boom, which is a high-reliability truss boom that deploys from a 1U stowed volume to an overall length in excess of 10 meters.; BENEFIT: The BADA boom facilitates the implementation of mission-enabling components for small spacecraft such as scientific instruments, magnetometers, solar arrays, and even antennas.
