Description
The proposed innovation is to investigate application of mREST (http://www.mrest.org) technologies to Missile Defense Agency simulations through the Objective Simulation Framework (OSF).This will result in a robust and scalable suite of enterprise-level applications known as the System Integration Toolbox Environment (SITE).SITE leverages a well established architecture to provide out-of-band connectivity from developed SITE integration tools to OSF and its underlying elements without modifying existing OSF interfaces.This connectivity employs a proven methodology of developing mREST plugin interfaces (MPI) for the various simulation elements, including the OSF simulation framework itself, that allows SITE tools and browser-based GUIs to monitor, test, and control, system and element level integration functions.This approach also allows for systems to be assembled in an ad-hoc manner since the components are not tightly coupled.SITE tools can be integrated with existing simulations in parallel without replacing any existing interfaces or technologies.The mREST framework also allows SITE graphical user interface (GUIs) to be browser-based and device-independent.This architecture opens up unlimited possibilities with regards to adoption of existing tools, software packages, and readily available software development skills and methodologies.Once designed, individual SITE software applications will be developed to solve specific system-integration issues.
