Polestar Technologies, Inc. — Department of Commerce SBIR Phase I: 8.2.5
Polestar Technologies, Inc. — SBIR Phase I award from Department of Commerce.
Phase I SBIR feasibility signal
- Phase I awards fund proof-of-concept work. For capture teams, they mark early interest from Department of Commerce in a technical approach.
- Watch for Phase II follow-ons from the same firm/topic family — that conversion path is where budgets and transition pressure rise.
- Obligated amount $119,952. Cross-check similar awards in the same agency and technology tags for going-rate context.
- Topic code 8.2.5 links this award to a solicitation family — search the same topic stem for incumbents and recompete timing.

Description
Polestar Technologies Inc. proposes a Phase I Small Business Innovation Research project to develop a deployable sensor for direct measurements of carbonate in saline waters. The designed sensor combines selectivity of carbonate ionophore with the unique structure of a carbon nanotube array. Detection will be based on rapid, inexpensive, low power and precise electrochemical methods. The proposed sensor will be deployable for autonomous monitoring of carbonate ions in the ocean. Phase I project will focus on feasibility of proof-of-concept for sensitive, fast and selective detection of carbonate ions with a sensitivity of 5 μM in saline waters.
